Gotham Knights unveiled an all-new DC FanDome trailer on October 16. After more than a year since the last DC FanDome, the upcoming co-op action RPG has offered a deeper insight into its overall plot. Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood will take on the sinister Court of Owls, an evil organization overseeing nearly all of the nefarious activity that takes place in Gotham City. With Batman dead, it’s up to the remaining Bat family to take on the Dark Knight’s mantle this time around.
The new Gotham Knights trailer begins with an ominous voiceover from Penguin, which makes it clear that Batman or even Commissioner Jim Gordon is no longer there. Viewers are soon introduced to the Court of Owls. DC Comics fans would know the Court of Owls as a vile organization that kidnaps child circus performers and trains them to become vicious assassins called Talons. This is followed by a montage of the four heroes exploring the secret lairs of the Court of the Owls, while being watched over by the Court itself.
For a brief second, we spot an old man sitting in front of what appears to be the Batcomputer. Could this be Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, Alfred? Or could it be an elderly Bruce Wayne, known to fake his death more than once in the comics? Fans will have to wait to find out.
The trailer ends with Penguin telling Nightwing, “If you really want to take this rabbit hole down, you have to know there’s no going back.” The Gotham Knights release date is set for 2022, with no specific date yet announced.
Gotham Knights was developed by WB Games Montreal, the studio behind the lackluster Batman: Arkham Origins (2013). Billed as part of the Batman: Arkham franchise at the time, the game failed to impress fans and critics alike. Developer Rocksteady – the studio behind the official Batman: Arkham trilogy that included Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight – has also released a gameplay trailer for its own upcoming DC Universe release. , Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, at the DC FanDome this year.
