Welcoming the progress of the Centre’s flagship program, Digital India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the country has successfully embraced the digital path and is rapidly changing course with digital payment transactions reaching over Rs 6 lakh crore each month. in July, August, and September.
“India is breaking new records in digital payments. In July, August and September, India managed to complete transactions worth over Rs 6 lakh crore every month! It shows the strength of India which is rapidly changing and going digital, ”Prime Minister Modi said during his speech at the urban conclave held in Lucknow.
During the program, PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 75 urban development projects in Uttar Pradesh as part of the Smart Cities Mission and Atal Mission for Urban Rejuvenation and Transformation (AMRUT) to Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.
According to PM Modi, the government was working hard to put in place better infrastructure for improved connectivity. “21st century India is poised to move forward with the power of multimodal connectivity. We are working on it quickly. All urban infrastructure projects also create large numbers of jobs. Experts call these force multipliers, ”PM Modi said.
While mentioning the role of the Center’s Swachh Bharat mission in promoting urban hygiene, Prime Minister Modi said that in the past seven years, the Center has funded over 60,000 household toilets and over 6 lakh across the country.
“We have improved urban hygiene over the years. As part of the Swachh Bharat mission, we have built over 60,000 household toilets and over 6 public lakhs in the past 7 years. Until 7 years ago, only 18% of waste was disposed of. Today, it has risen to 70%, ”Prime Minister Modi said.
While mentioning the key pieces of legislation adopted by his government to enact laws, the Prime Minister said that the Center has made serious efforts to overcome the problems and challenges of the urban middle class.
“The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) act was a milestone. This law has helped to lift the whole housing sector out of mistrust and fraud and has helped and empowered all stakeholders, ”Prime Minister Modi said.
During the program, Prime Minister Modi digitally handed over the keys to PMAY-U houses to 75,000 beneficiaries in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister also published on this occasion a Coffee Table Book encompassing 75 projects implemented within the framework of various flagship missions of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present on the show.
