Maharashtra: Corona cases rise again in 28 out of 36 districts, Vidarbha becomes new hotspot

The cases of corona virus in Maharashtra are increasing continuously. Meanwhile, outbreak of the virus has increased in many new districts of the state. Out of 36 districts in Maharashtra, active cases have increased in the last two weeks in 28. The number of these districts was 21 days 10 days ago. Health department data shows that Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Yavatmal and Nagpur of Vidarbha are newly emerging hotspots and active cases are increasing here.

In the Marathwada district like Latur, Hingoli, Parbhani and Nanded, cases of Kovid-19 are also increasing in large numbers. Vidarbha is the epicenter in February. Pune is second with 12,577 cases and Nagpur is third with 9,141 cases.

Highest positive rate recorded in Amravati

There are 7,899 cases of corona in Mumbai. There are 7,276 active cases in Thane and 6,740 in Amravati. The active cases in these five districts make up about 65 percent of the total active cases of the state. There are more cases based on the population of Nagpur’s 50 lakhs. At the same time, cases are less in Mumbai on the basis of population of one crore 30 lakhs.

The data shows that Amravati had the highest weekly positive rate (19.4 percent) between February 15 and 21. Akola had a positive rate of 10.5 percent and Buldhana reported 6.1 percent. All these districts were in Vidarbha. However, Amravati’s weekly positive rate remains the highest at 41.5 per cent, while Akola recorded a positive 30.8 per cent.

State government advisor Dr. Subhash Salunke said that it is expected that the virus will gradually spread to new districts. He said, ‘In some places the spread will be fast while in others it will spread slowly. For example, Marathwada should monitor its people living around Vidarbha districts. Even the neighboring districts of Pune and Nashik should be cautious. ‘

Dr. Salunke has not described the rising cases as the second wave of Corona. The increase in cases may continue for the next month or two. A state official said that there has been an upsurge in active cases in Aurangabad inside Marathwada. There were 347 cases of corona on February 1, which has increased to 2,052 on Friday. All districts have been asked to extend the test.
