IPL 2021 Venues

Professional cricket will return to the newly christened Arun Jaitley stadium as it prepares to host the 2021 IPL second leg from April 28 to May 8.

The stadium name was changed in 2019 from Feroz Shah Kotla to Arun Jaitley in honor of the former president of the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association and former Union Minister to recognize his outstanding achievements in the field of cricket.

Jaitley, during his tenure at DDCA, is credited with renovating the stadium into a modern facility, increasing its capacity to accommodate over 41,000 fans in addition to building world-class dressing rooms.

The stadium will host its first game this season between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which will be Game 23 of IPL 2021. The first leg of IPL 2021 will be played in bio-secure bubbles in Chennai and Mumbai.

IPL 2021 will only be played at 6 sites in India following the Covid-19 pandemic. Neither team will be able to take advantage of the home advantage. Bio-secure bubbles have been created at the 6 sites to ensure a safe and smooth running of the first T20 tournament.

Arun Jaitley Stadium will host the fewest matches this season. 8 matches will be played on this site against at least 10 each in Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Bengaluru. Bio-secure bubbles have been created on all these sites because the BCCI has implemented strict protocols to ensure the smooth running of the tournament following the pandemic.

DELHI STADIUM IPL REGISTRATION:

Teams generally prefer to race at Arun Jaitley Stadium due to its small limits and speed. The 2nd-ranked teams have won 16 of the 28 games that have been played here since IPL 2018.
