IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli posed with the Indian ODI jersey before the English series

India captain Virat Kohli posed with the team’s ODI jersey ahead of the three-game series against England from Pune on Tuesday. Kohli will lead the squad after successfully leading India to a 3-1 victory in the test series and a 3-2 victory in the T20I five-game series which ended on Saturday.

All three ODIs in the series will be played in Pune with the last two games scheduled for March 26-28. Ahead of the series, Kohli told Monday’s pre-game conference that Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will continue to open for India. in ODI.

Kohli had promoted himself from the forerunners in the fifth T20I at Ahmedabad and this has led to questions whether Kohli will be seen opening regularly for India in white ball cricket.

On Monday, Kohli said the decision to open the stick was not guaranteed in every game.

“As for the opening combination, Shikhar (Dhawan) and Rohit (Sharma) will definitely start. They’ve been amazing for us the last few years,” Kohli said.

“It is not a guarantee that this will be considered in the future,” Kohli said on whether he will be seen opening the bat for India in the next matches.

The ODI series could also mean a possible debut for Prasidh Krishna, the Karnataka fast pitcher who earned his first call-up to the Indian squad.

Next to Krishna, Krunal Pandya, who was also called up to the ODI team, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant are expected to feature in the starting XI for India.
