ANDAM, the continent’s most important independent fashion award, has selected 14 finalists for its 2021 edition.
In an impressive peloton, Londoner Grace Wales Bonner, winner of the 2016 LVMH Young Designers Prize, is one of the favorites for the prize of 300,000 euros.
However, she will receive stiff competition from GmbH’s designer duo Serhat Işık and Benjamin A. Huseby, who were recently appointed creative directors of Trussardi in Italy, in a surprise appointment.
In total, there are seven finalists for the top prize, including Casablanca, the trendy Anglo-French label run by DJ designer Charaf Tajer; Area, by New York duo Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk; and Rok Hwang from London label Rokh. The seven are completed by Bianca Saunders, finalist for this year’s LVMH Prize; and Parisian designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin, who opened a must-see boutique in the Marais last year. Underlining the intensity of the competition, the jury increased the number of finalists from five to seven this year.
