Just months before the crucial State Assembly elections, Uttarakhand’s new chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a further step to consolidate his administrative grip, announced the transfer of more than 60 officers from IAS and IPS in the State. Uttarakhand is expected to go to the polls early next year.
According to the government notification released late last night, among the main displaced administrators were 20 IPS staff, which included the names of SSPs from several districts.
Among senior IPS officials, Dehradun’s new SSP, Janmaijai Khanduri, assumed the new charge on Sunday and announced that he would maintain control over the public order situation in the state capital. “My priority would be to ensure that justice is served to every victim,” Khanduri said after taking office as SSP Dehradun.
Janmaijai, senior IPS officer for batch 2007, also served as SSP Kumbh Mela in the past. Janmaijai also served previously as SSP of Haridwar and Nainital Districts.
Meanwhile, holder Doon SSP Yogendra Singh Rawat has been sent to Haridwar as a new SSP.
In other high-level administrative tinkering, the state government announced an additional charge for Eva Ashish Srivastava, IAS officer and Tehri district magistrate, who will now also be vice president of the charge of the ‘Tehri District Development Authority.
Another additional secretary, Iqbal Ahmed, has also been given the post of additional secretary.
While the additional house secretary VK Krishna Kumar was released from the police headquarters, the IAS officer Anand Swarup was removed from his post as the additional secretary of the registrar of cooperatives.
According to the order, IAS officer Alok Kumar Pandey will now head the department. Pandey, however, will no longer have the responsibility of deputy chairman of the Tehri district level authority and secretary of the Uttarakhand Child Development Protection Commission.
Umesh Narayan, ICD Senior Executive and Additional Secretary, has been given responsibility for the Directors’ Employee Insurance Plan.
