14-inch MacBook Pro (2021) Does Not Support Fast Charging, Apple Says

Apple isn’t bundling its fast charger with all of the 14-inch MacBook Pro models launched earlier this week, instead selling it as an add-on. It unveiled the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models at a virtual event, and new details on the bundle chargers were revealed on Apple’s website. The Cupertino giant offers two types of power adapters for the 14-inch MacBook Pro. Some models are equipped with a 67W USB-C power adapter, while high-end models contain a 96W adapter. On the other hand, 16-inch MacBook Pro models all come with a USB power adapter. -C 140 W in the box.

On its website, Apple writes that the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Pro with 8-core processor, 14-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine comes with a 67W USB-C adapter for charging. This model does not come with the 96W adapter and users can upgrade to the fast charging adapter by paying an additional $ 20 in US, or Rs. 1,600 in India. Apple claims the 96W adapter will charge the battery from 0-50% in about 30 minutes.

14-inch MacBook Pro models with an M1 Pro chip with a 10-core processor or any M1 Max chip, on the other hand, come with the 96W USB-C adapter.

16-inch MacBook Pro models in all configurations come with a 140W fast charging adapter inside the box. Apple confirmed to The Verge that the 140W charging brick uses the USB-C Power Delivery 3.1 standard. This means that the new adapter will be compatible with other devices using the same power supply.

The 140W USB-C adapter is also sold separately and costs $ 99 in the US and Rs. 9,500 in India. Apple claims that this cable also allows a 0-50% charge in about 30 minutes.

The price of the Apple MacBook Pro (2021) starts at Rs. 1,949,900 in India and $ 1,999 in the United States. The models are based on the company’s new silicon called the all-new M1 Pro and M1 Max. It gives up the Touch Bar and brings back an SDXC card slot and an HDMI port
